About First Crush
In February of 2002, Tom Derosa purchased and gutted the building at 32 Market Street, which had previously been the location of Robinson’s Market. Thus opened First Crush, Potsdam’s first (and only!) bistro/wine bar. In October of 2013, he sold the business to long-time manager Geralyn Barney. Shortly thereafter, Geri’s brother Alan came on board. Between the two of them, they have many years of experience cooking in fine dining restaurants.
We feature a rotating exhibit of local art on our walls and a selection of vases, mugs, and bowls by a local potter, as well as live jazz every few months. We frequently host private parties and do offsite catering events. We have fresh flowers on every table, great music on the radio, and a delectable homemade array of daily soup, quiche, lunch, and dinner specials! Whether you’d like to come in early for a yummy breakfast, mid-day for a casual lunch, or evenings for a fancy dinner, First Crush has something for everyone.
The staff here at Crush is small–only three chefs and four waitstaff–and we pride ourselves on our professional service, excellent food, and the friendliness of everyone here. You will always be greeted with a smile at First Crush..and leave with one of your own!
